As per the applicable laws and regulations in force currently, a consumer may himself procure the meter from the vendors who manufacture meters  as per the licensee's technical specifications. These specifications are in compliance to BIS standards and other applicable laws and regulations. The list of approved vendors has been provided along with the technical specifications. In case a consumer chooses to buy a meter manufactured by vendor other than those listed, the same shall be subjected to scrutiny by the licensee.
