NDPL wins National Award for Meritorious Performance in Power Distribution
New Delhi, January 29, 2010: North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL), a joint venture company of Tata Power & Government of Delhi, was today awarded the prestigious ‘National Award for Meritorious Performance’ in Power Distribution. NDPL was presented the silver award for 2008-09 by Shri Sushilkumar Shinde, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power during the ceremony held today at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi in the presence of Shri Bharatsinh Solanki, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Power.
The award, instituted by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, was conferred in recognition of NDPL’s outstanding performance in power distribution. Mr. Sunil Wadhwa, Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director and Mr. Arup Ghosh, Chief Operating Officer received the award on behalf of team NDPL.

NDPL has earlier also been awarded the National Award for Meritorious Performance for 2004-05 & 2005-06 by the Ministry of Power. The awards have been instituted by the Ministry of Power to inculcate a competitive spirit and to motivate the power utilities/ franchisees to achieve higher levels of performance.
NDPL is a frontrunner in implementing power distribution reforms in the capital city and is acknowledged for its consumer friendly practices. Since privatisation, the Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses in NDPL areas have shown a record decline. Today they stand at 15% (as on March 31, 2009) which is an unprecedented reduction of over 73% from an opening loss level of 53%.
